States, and within developmental science as a field. We provide a brief overview of recommendations on responsible use of intersectionality in developmental science. We then introduce contributions contained within this volume, and how each contributor grappled
with the following question: How can an intersectionality perspective inform the developmental phenomena of interest and particular developmental theories you draw upon in your area of research? We end by noting that these contributions offer a collection

The landscape of family life is ever changing. The strategies needed to maintain family economic stability, health and general well-being vary across space and place. Although the rural-urban divide is often portrayed as the most important geographic distinction,
there is tremendous diversity across rural communities. Contrary to some depictions, families in rural areas come from diverse backgrounds. Further, some rural areas are resource constrained while others host opportunities that can support healthy families
and child well-being. The 2018 National Symposium on Family Issues will focus on the challenges facing families in rural areas and the unique strategies invoked by families in rural areas today. For more information and to register visit

Comprehensive reviews and meta-analyses are critically important in understanding the robustness of major empirical findings in the literature. Furthermore, as an analytic tool, meta-analyses provide insight into the nature of research discrepancies, and provide

<span style="font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">Assistant Editor
JoA is an international, cross-disciplinary journal focusing on development from puberty through emerging adulthood (approximately 10-25). Founded in 1978, JoA’s mission is to further developmental science and foster adolescent well-being through publication
of well-designed empirical research and strong, theoretically grounded reviews of the literature. We place a particular emphasis on multi-source, longitudinal studies. The Journal strongly encourages diversity in the study of development in terms of disciplines,
authorship, and samples. Currently, approximately 50% of our articles originate with research teams in the United States. We are particularly interested in Assistant Editors who can help broaden our authorship base.

We seek a new Assistant Editor who is clearly committed to the field of adolescent development. Assistant Editors should be committed to the Journal’s multi-disciplinary approach and comfortable with the evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative research
methodologies. Previous editorial experience is strongly desired.

Assistant Editors should expect to shepherd approximately 30 papers per year through the publication process. The term for an Assistant Editor is five years and is renewable. The post carries an honorarium. Meetings of the editorial team tend to take place
during the biennial meetings of the Society for Research on Adolescence and all members of the Editorial Team are strongly encouraged to attend.

Applicants for the position should submit a full CV, together with a covering letter indicating their interest in the position, the particular skills they have to offer and their philosophy and thoughts on editing. Applications should be sent to Dr. Nancy
