For more information, go to the faculty governance website at <a href="http://facultygovernance.arizona.edu/">http://facultygovernance.arizona.edu/</a>. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>In short, we discussed 1) the Governor’s proposed budget and the possible impacts on the University and the students; 2) the meetings with ABOR; and 3) the meaning of Academic Freedom and perhaps changes that need to be made at the UA to assure everyone is aware of our policy and guidelines. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>We also approved a class participation, attendance and administrative drop policy that included on-line courses and acceptance the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) as a Credit-by-Exam Option (in addition to International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement exam scores). This give departments the option to accept the CIE as a credit-by-exam option for their degree certification. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Finally, concern was expressed that we do not have enough faculty participation in our faculty governance system.
