[Faculty] Communication of Brightspace Changes

All faculty who are teaching this summer and next fall received the email below. It details some changes coming to the university's instance of Brightspace. Please reach out with any questions to UCATT.

Dear colleagues,
Earlier this year, UCATT announced three updates coming to Brightspace in Fall 2026. As of today, May 12, the next phase is underway: the New Content Experience is now available for exploration in individual playspaces or course sites, along with a full set of supporting resources ready to help you prepare. Beginning August 17, coinciding with the start of the academic year, the changes will apply to all courses.
Brightspace Updates Timeline:
May 12-August 16
Toggle on the New Content Experience (NCE): D2L is retiring Classic Content in 2027.
August 17
Standardized navigation bar (navbar): For a more consistent student experience, the navbar will be standardized across all courses.
Grade default will be changed from adjusted to calculated, and grades will be automatically visible to students. This change promotes student awareness of performance to date.
New Content Experience fully implemented: The New Content Experience is live in all courses and playspaces.
How to Prepare for Your Fall Courses

  *   Start exploring New Content Experience now for all playspaces and course sites.
  *   Attend a session — Join a webinar or open office hours in June and July by going to our event calendar
  *   Get individual support — Consultations are available with our expert teams
