[Faculty] Graduate Grievance Committee - University Level Service Opportunity

Dear Colleagues:



Graduate College Dean Kirsten Limesand has requested assistance with identifying 1-2 faculty members from our college to serve on the Graduate Grievance Committee.



The Grievance Committee is a standing committee responsible for addressing formal grievances from graduate students. Membership consists of eight graduate students representing different academic units appointed by the Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC), four faculty members from the Graduate Council and twelve faculty members at large, appointed by the Graduate Dean. Normally faculty members serve three-year terms, staggered from each other. Since this committee is getting re-started, some members will have shorter terms than others to facilitate the staggering. As noted above, the only time this committee has work assigned is when there is a formal grievance which has been uncommon.



Jim and I have decided that, for CALES, we would like to have one representative selected from the faculty and one from our shared governance groups (Faculty Council and DRAC).

The Faculty Council and DRAC are working on selecting their nominees; therefore, I am writing to request self-nominations from the overall CALES faculty. Jim and I will evaluate all nominations received and select the final representatives for CALES. We will evaluate interest, relevant experience, and overall representation of CALES fields.



Please email me a few sentences describing your interest and relevant experience to serve in this role no later than Thursday, February 26th, 2026.

This is a great university level, low effort service commitment for interested faculty members.
