Dear CALES Faculty,

I’m pleased to share that we are now opening internal searches for two key leadership positions in the college:

  *   Associate Dean, Research
  *   Bart Cardon Associate Dean, Career and Academic Services

Both roles have been ably filled in an interim capacity, one for over two years and the other for more than a year.  I want to be clear that this decision to open the positions for formal appointment does not reflect dissatisfaction with the performance of the interim leaders.  Quite the opposite: I’m grateful for Jon Chorover’s and Jim Hunt’s dedicated service and leadership through a challenging period marked by financial constraints and a hiring freeze.

Now, with the provost’s endorsement, we have the opportunity to move forward using a streamlined internal process.  This is important for ensuring transparency, fairness, and long-term strategic leadership in these critical areas of our mission – research and academic success.

Please note that for the Associate Dean, Research position, there will be an option for the successful candidate to maintain some research FTE to be negotiated during the hiring process.

I encourage all eligible faculty to review the postings and consider applying.  Application review will begin on November 13.  Thank you for your continued dedication to CALES and to the students, families, and communities we serve.
