Dear ALVSCE Colleagues,

The transition to the Trump Administration has included executive actions that are impacting federal-funded research activities in the U.S. This email provides a link to relevant informational resources.

Some federal agencies have suspended public communications, including publication of regulations, grant announcements, notices of award, guidance, and social media, unless approved by administration officials. Also suspended, unless approved by administration officials, are research study sections and public speaking engagements by agency officials.

These are reportedly short-term measures until such time as new administration officials and staff are in place to ensure consistency with the president's priorities and policies. Similar directives have been issued at the onset of previous new administrations.

The uncertainty surrounding federal research funding has understandably created some anxiety and concern among scientists, and access to up-to-date information can be helpful.

To help navigate new directives and their impacts on research institutions, like UA, The Council on Governmental Relations<https://www.cogr.edu/> (COGR) - the national authority on federal policies and regulations affecting U.S. research institutions - has created a new webpage on "2025 Administration Transition Information & Resources<https://www.cogr.edu/2025-administration-transition-information-resources>". This is a helpful page for those that wish to access the most up-to-date information on Department/Agency Directives, articles published in the press and journals, Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) News, and Institutional Communications on Federal Funding Updates.
