[Faculty] ALVSCE/CALS memo regarding safety concerns to Provost

Dear CALS Faculty,

Sorry to disrupt your weekend with an email, but we wanted to get you this information as we believe it is relevant for Monday’s Faculty Senate special meeting.

Attached you’ll find a memo from ALVSCE/CALS leadership to Provost Folks. ALVSCE/CALS Leadership provided us with this memo a few days ago and consulted with the Office of General Council before making it public.


As you can read, the memo details the results of a CALS survey sent after Dr. Meixner’s murder. In October, our ALVSCE/CALS leadership summarized the findings and hand delivered this memo to Provost Folks on November 4th, 2022. There has been no response or follow-up from the Provost office to CALS since that time, despite the memo detailing significant issues with safety protocol experienced by CALS faculty.


We wanted to bring this to your attention and our Senators (Ravi, Katie, & Tim)  intend to discuss this at the Faculty Senate meeting<https://facultygovernance.arizona.edu/events/special-faculty-senate-meeting-0> on Monday.
