[Faculty] New Wordpress Hosting for ALVSCE Faculty

Hello Faculty,

UITS has unveiled their purchase of CampusPress<https://campuspress.com/> - which is a free-to-faculty WordPress hosting platform. This is a brand-new service, so I can't vouch for it, but it comes from a commercial vendor that specifically targets academia. If you'd like to learn more, please visit https://sites.arizona.edu. Wordpress is touted as an easy-to-learn content management system, and is very popular for no-code web development.

Separately, my team (Communications & Cyber Technologies<https://cct.arizona.edu/>) provides web development, hosting, and data science services. We primarily design and develop departmental and grant-based websites using content management systems (such as Drupal), lightweight GIS and web-based mapping applications, mobile applications, and R-Studio/Posit "webified" apps.

That said, we have created a few interactive lab websites for various faculty, including:

  *   https://jkbrownlab.arizona.edu/

The last two examples were built using a web-building platform called CALES Quickstart - a tailored version of Drupal, based on the UA Quickstart<https://quickstart.arizona.edu/> framework. These sites are quick for us to stand up and make it easy for faculty to create content. It costs $200/year to host this site on CCT web and database servers, although this fee is often waived and funded through department investment into the Arizona Experiment Station<https://experimentstation.arizona.edu/>.
