[Faculty] CALES Service Survey

Good afternoon, CALES faculty! I hope that the first 2.5 days of classes have gone smoothly for all.

I am hoping that all of you will be willing to help in in an information-gathering exercise. As you are aware, your position at UA has a formal "position split" (e.g., x% instruction, y% research...) and for most of you, this split includes 10% service.

Below is a link to a Qualtrics survey designed to address questions about the service split - questions related to (for example) equity in assigning service, and levels of departmental vs. College vs. UA vs. professional service. The information that you provide will help us in identifying what we are doing right in assigning service, and what we can do to improve the process.

Before you begin the survey, please gather any information you may have on: numbers of committees you sit on (internal and external to the UA); time spent doing service (I know that this one can be tough since service can be seasonal, but please do the best you can); and the service split of your position. Please also note that this survey does ask for gender and ethnicity information. We would not ask for this information if it weren't important, but it is. And all of your responses are completely de-identified.
