[Faculty] Important Change to Proposal Routing Process

Dear Principal Investigators,

I’m writing to provide important guidance to all Principal Investigators in response to a recent change in how Sponsored Projects Services (SPS) communicates the outcomes of their final review of grant packages during the route for submission process.  

In the past, Sponsored Projects Services (SPS) contacted your ALVSCE Pre Award Grants & Contracts Manager<https://research.cals.arizona.edu/pre-award-process> when your proposal required corrections or revisions.  Your Grants and Contracts Manager would contact you if significant changes were needed to the project narrative, budget, budget justification, etc.. They would not involve you in minor changes such as the addition of page numbers to a document, corrections to numbers in a budget narrative, margin formatting, etc.

SPS is now contacting PIs directly for these last minute changes, with a cc: to your Grants and Contracts Manager.

To avoid confusion, upon receiving an email from SPS about your proposal submission, please verify that your Pre Award Grants and Contracts Manger is copied on the email. If not, please immediately forward it to them and await instructions. Do not reply to the email or attempt to manage the revisions on your own, as it is important to fully understand the changes being requested, why they are being made and the potential impact on your proposal.

Your Grants & Contracts Manager is your resource so please rely on their expertise to handle this process.
