Dear Colleagues,
We are writing to share updated travel procedures, to align with current CDC guidance. Effective immediately, domestic out-of-state travel for work purposes will be permitted with the approval of the Department Head / Chair / Director of the traveler. Approval from RII (for research travel) and Senior Leadership will no longer be required for domestic travel. Research-related travel requires a fully approved Phase 3 or Phase 4 checklist<https://research.arizona.edu/covid19/research-restart>.
Travelers are strongly urged to follow CDC guidelines<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html>. In accordance with current CDC guidance, fully vaccinated travelers:
* Should continue to follow mask requirements, social distancing, and hand washing guidance.
* Are not required to be tested before or after travel unless the travel destination requires testing.
* Are not required to self-quarantine upon return from travel.
As a reminder, you are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the final dose of vaccine (i.e., two weeks after the second dose for both Pfizer and Moderna, or two weeks after the single dose for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine).
Unvaccinated travelers should continue to avoid travel unless necessary based on job duties. In accordance with CDC guidance unvaccinated travelers<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html> should:
* Get tested 1-3 days before travel.
* Continue to follow mask requirements, social distancing, and hand washing guidance.
* Get tested 3-5 days upon return from travel AND self-quarantine for 7 days, or 10 days without a test and must not return to campus during the self-quarantine period.
International travelers should continue to follow the guidelines available at: International Travel | Arizona Global<https://global.arizona.edu/travel>.
The Coronavirus Travel Authorization policy<https://policy.fso.arizona.edu/fsm/1400/1418> has been updated to reflect these changes, and we will continue to monitor CDC guidance. We want to thank you for your diligence in practicing safe travel practices.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth “Betsy” Cantwell
