Dear CALS Colleagues,

Yesterday, you should have received a note from Jessica Summers about the new (Discourse) forum <https://uacovid19workgroups.trydiscourse.com/> that is now available to capture your feedback and questions for senior leadership. If you log in, you will see that it's already very active with questions from across campus. (Please follow the instructions below to log in.)

Help us spread the word about this tool, and encourage your colleagues to submit their questions and concerns. The forum is being monitored by the Faculty Officers, and we will use the information you submit to advocate on your behalf. You are also very welcome to send any feedback directly to me (hinglem at arizona.edu), or to your CALS Faculty Senators.<https://facultygovernance.arizona.edu/faculty-senate/roster>

Thank you,
Melanie Hingle
CALS Senator, 2016-2020
Vice Chair of the Faculty Elect, 2020-

Subject: [faculty] UA Faculty Covid-19 Discourse Forum

Sent on Behalf of Jessica Summers, Chair of the Faculty:

Dear Faculty Member,

At our last Faculty Senate meeting on April 6, the faculty officers and staff held a webinar-style meeting to answer Covid-19 related questions by our senior leaders. A recording of that meeting can be found here<https://arizona.app.box.com/s/vuxr8chq0ksz2xgbeva3aunugx7on8fg>. However, decisions are being made at a rapid pace, as evidenced by President Robbins’ furlough announcement on Friday, April 17, and we can’t wait until the next senate meeting to have your questions answered. In order to moderate the continuing stream of questions and concerns relating to Covid-19, we invite you to use a faculty-specific digital forum using Discourse<https://uacovid19workgroups.trydiscourse.com/> to submit your queries. The officers will be actively moderating the discussions and questions in order to make sure you receive the correct answer in a timely manner.

To use Discourse, please sign up for an account using your UA email address here<https://uacovid19workgroups.trydiscourse.com/>. After registering, please click on the “+ New Topic” button to post a new question or comment in the appropriate category. Tips on using Discourse are available here<https://blog.discourse.org/2016/12/discourse-new-user-tips-and-tricks/>.

If you would rather not use Discourse, you can always submit your questions to the Financial Emergency Task Force email (svpcfo at arizona.edu<mailto:svpcfo at arizona.edu>) Human Resources email (HR-Covid19-Questions at email.arizona.edu<mailto:HR-Covid19-Questions at email.arizona.edu>) or submit your questions anonymously to the webform at https://businessaffairs.arizona.edu/financial-taskforce/get-involved. Personnel in human resources are working around the clock to answer furlough related questions that have come in since Friday, and are constantly being updated here<https://hr.arizona.edu/content/furlough-program-faqs>.

The Faculty Senate and Senate Executive Committee will be meeting throughout the summer of 2020 to ensure faculty play an active role in Covid-19 related decisions affecting our University Community. As always, general faculty are welcome to attend the senate meetings<https://facultygovernance.arizona.edu/faculty-senate/schedule-agenda> via Zoom. I hope you and your families are doing well during this unusually stressful time.

Sincerely,

Jessica
