[Faculty] Classroom Incident

Good morning, CALS faculty,

Recently, we had an incident in which a faculty member experienced threatening behavior from a student in their class.

This is distressing, to say the very least. The instructor did file a report with the Dean of Students and we are awaiting the results.

In response to this incident, I am sharing with all of you the official UA policy on how to address disruptive student behavior and what to do when that behavior crosses the line to a real or perceived threat.

Please read through this page, watch the video provided, and familiarize yourself with this process.

If you ever find that you need to file a report as per the UA policy, please inform me of this by email. This is not so I can intercede in the situation, but more so I can follow up with the Dean of Students Office, if needed, to ensure that the situation is resolved as quickly as possible.
