This opportunity awards up to $5,000 to support research at the Center for Creative Photography by curators, writers, and researchers investigating the life and work of Kenneth J. Botto. Photographers working to incorporate set-up, collage, or constructed imagery or photographers whose work is a critical comment on political, social, and/or art historical issues in society are also welcome to apply. Advanced scholars and researchers from any discipline are encouraged to apply. Pre-doctoral applicants must have completed coursework and preliminary examinations for the doctoral degree and must be engaged in dissertation research. Decisions will be announced by email on or before February 28, 2017.

The Social & Behavioral Sciences Research Institute will be accepting applications for their following awards, Faculty Small Grants, Research Professorships, Pre-doctoral Research Grants, and Dissertation Research Grant. These awards are for faculty and students in the college of Social and Behavioral Sciences. All funding availability and expenditures will be handled through the SBS College in accordance with the University policies and procedures. All applications must be submitted through their website and must be followed by the responsibility of the PI’s to learn about the written policies and procedures.
Faculty Small Grants: This award is up to $3,500 to provide seed money for larger projects, as well as those leading to proposals to external funding agencies. The expenses on this award can be used in research-related travel, subject payment, supplies, short-term research assistance, and small equipment.
Research Professorships: This award will release $7,500 of funding to a faculty for conducting research.
Pre-Doctoral Research Grants: The award provides funding up to $500 for PhD and Master’s research activities. Expenses on this award can be used in research-related travel and expenses, subject payment, supplies, and small equipment.
Dissertation Research Grants: The award provides funding up to $2,000 for graduate students who have advanced to PhD candidacy and are in need for funding to conduct their dissertation research. This award can be used in expenses such as research-related travel and expenses, subject payment, supplies, and small equipment.

Established in 1962, the Spencer Foundation is dedicated to the belief that through research, education can play a role in reducing economic and social inequalities. The Small Research Grants program will award grants of up to $50,000 to eligible principal investigator and co-PIs with an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field. In addition, the PI must be affiliated with a college, university, school district, nonprofit research facility, or nonprofit cultural institution that is willing to serve as the fiscal agent should a grant be awarded.

A stipend of $3,500 will be given to scholars whose projects require extensive use of the Ransom Center’s collections. Travel stipends of up to $2,000 are available for postdoctoral or independent scholars whose projects require less than one month's work with the center's collections.

The mission of the Women's Studio Workshop is to operate and maintain a workspace that encourages the voice and vision of individual women artists. In support of that mission, applications are being accepted for the Art-in-Education Artist’s Book Grant. Through the program, residencies will be awarded to two emerging women artists to create a new artist’s book and teach young people. Each residency includes a stipend of $350/week for up to ten weeks, up to $750 for materials, up to $250 for travel within the Continental US, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access during non-AIE sessions.

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago invite outstanding doctoral students to apply for the eighth cohort of Doris Duke Fellowships for the Promotion of Child Well-Being. The fellowships are designed to identify and develop a new generation of leaders interested in, and capable of, creating practice and policy initiatives that enhance child development and improve the nation's ability to prevent all forms of child maltreatment. Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $30,000 for up to two years for completion of their dissertation and related research at their academic institution.

The Harpo Foundation is accepting applications for its Native American Residency Fellowship. Each year, the program awards two residency fellowships to Native American artists. Fellows will receive a one-month residency, which includes room and board, a private studio, and a $500 travel stipend. To be eligible, Native American artists must demonstrate strong artistic ability, an evolving practice that is at a pivotal moment in its development, and a practice that engages a dialogue between the artist’s indigenous world and the surrounding culture.
