[Faculty] Significant new support for excellence in teaching: CUES Distinguished Fellowship Awards

CALS Faculty colleagues,


The Provost has issued the 2018 call for nominations for the Center For University Education Scholarship (CUES) Distinguished Fellowship Awards.   This new initiatve is a significant opportunity for faculty to receive both recognition and financial support ($20,000 per year for up to three years) for their ongoing work that demonstrates innovation in teaching methods, assessments of learning, and use of evidence-based instructional strategies and/or projects that promote student learning regarding Grand Challenges in cross-disciplinary settings on campus.


This new program appears well-suited for supporting much of the work we do inside CALS.   I'm guessing that many of you are well-positioned to submit very competitive applications for this campus-wide program.   The program limits the number of applications advancing out of each College to two.   Consequently, Dean Burgess will make the final selection of the two proposals that will advance out of CALS.

Candidates may self-nominate but will need several letters of support, including one from their unit head.  Please submit all nomination packets directly to Dean Burgess via email no later than December 1, 2017.
