The University of Arizona offers a variety of tools and resources to assist faculty, students and staff to identify funding opportunities for scholarly activities. The International Research Development Grant (IRDG) provides travel support to tenured and tenure-eligible faculty for the development or continuation of international research. The award is limited to a maximum of $1,500 for airfare assistance only. Awards are not applicable to meals, lodging, conference fees, or other incidental travel expenses. Awards are not to directly cover the cost of travel to conferences. Funding is provided to tenured and tenured-eligible faculty; (i.e., those who have attained or are eligible to attain tenure or higher professorial rank). Professors’ emeriti and visiting faculty are not eligible for awards. Only current research projects of exceptional value or proposed research activity of exceptional promise will be funded.

Grant awards up to $150,000 are available to support innovative social science research on the social, economic and political effects of the Affordable Care Act. Specific interest is in funding analyses that address important questions about the effects of the reform on outcomes such as financial security and family economic well-being, labor supply and demand, participation in other public programs, family and children’s outcomes, and differential effects by age, race, ethnicity, nativity, or disability status.

WES Foundation makes proceeds available to fund laboratory based leukemia research. The Foundation recognizes that choice exists. The foundation is seeking proposals for innovative research in leukemia. One-year grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded to new and established investigators in support of laboratory, transnational, or clinical research related to acute leukemia. Renewal of initial research support may be considered for one or more additional years based on productivity.

The World of Children Award program was created to recognize individuals who make a difference ito n the lives of children in the United States and across the globe, regardless of political, religious, or geographical boundaries. The program awards grants to support proven, high-impact programs created by individuals for children that help ensure more children’s lives will be touched, improved, and changed forever. The World of Children Awards honors individuals in five categories -- Protection, Education, Humanitarian, Health, and Youth.

The society is accepting applications for its Pilot Grant Program, which funds high-risk pilot grants to test novel ideas that may serve to advance its mission of stopping MS progression, restoring function, improving quality of life, and preventing MS. The program supports fundamental as well as applied studies, non-clinical or clinical in nature, including projects in patient management, care, and rehabilitation. One-year grants of up to $44,000 will be awarded to test innovative, cutting-edge ideas or untested methods, and to gather sufficient preliminary data that can be used to apply for longer-term funding.

Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, clients' abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. Music therapy also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words.

The Marshall Foundation is looking for letters of intent to begin its grant application process. Grants are awarded to applicants whose projects are relevant to the Marshall Foundation’s mission to enhance the lives of citizens of Tucson and Pima County. The BBVA Compass Foundation demonstrates support to the communities where they can be a presence. Each community has unique needs and opportunities where funds can be provided. Grants addressing inequality to create pathways to economic opportunity, particularly for women and people of color are available. The Nathan Cummings Foundation is pleased to launch the search for the third cohort of The Nathan Cummings Foundation Fellowship. Three visionaries will receive $100,000 each for one year and the support to turn an inspired idea into a game-changing reality. Successful applicants will be proven risk-takers who are ready to build on the Foundation’s strengths, question our assumptions, and be open to new approaches.

Through its Joint Grant Awards Program, the foundation supports research of one to two years in duration that poses questions of high relevance to family medicine. The maximum award for JGAP grants is $50,000. Applications for smaller-scale studies with lower costs are also welcome. To be eligible, the principal investigator of the project must be a family medicine researcher — a clinician or Ph.D. In addition, the PI or one of the co-investigators must be a member of the AAFP. Priority will be given to new researchers and to those who mentor new investigators on the research team. Education and healthcare institutions or organizations that plan to use the JGAP support exclusively for research projects directly involving and impacting family medicine also are eligible.
