Event Announcement: NSF CAREER Grant Preparation Program begins January 20, 2016

The NSF CAREER Grant Preparation Program ("Program") is offered by Research Development Services<http://arizona.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=a229b42c93&e=db7a664467>, a unit of the Office for Research & Discovery<http://arizona.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=07be1618ae&e=db7a664467>, to provide an overview of the NSF CAREER Grant program and provide proposal development assistance to UA Faculty that chose to submit a full proposal to NSF.

The CAREER program is offered in two phases:

  *   Phase I: Introductory Sessions<http://arizona.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=ace9fd0492&e=db7a664467>
Includes two introductory sessions in January and February that are open to all potential applicants and interested parties. In addition to the CAREER specific sessions, participants are encouraged to attend the general NSF sessions. ORD provides this professional training program to UA Faculty at no-cost.

     *   NSF CAREER Recipients Panel, February 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:30pm at the Vine Avenue Annex, Room 102. Enroll Now<http://arizona.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=85cd79a7d7&e=db7a664467>
  *   Phase II: "Commit to Submit" Development Program<http://arizona.us8.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=b6ba9388f9c749678c5f1628d&id=19ba23672e&e=db7a664467>
This section of the program runs from March through July 2016 and is open to researchers who have committed to the submission of an NSF CAREER application (due in late July 2016). This component of the program requires endorsement for participation from the applicant's Department Head (due February 22). Participants will work on their proposals in small groups and will work with a faculty coach and an RDS Associate on proposal development. In addition, a one day "Write Winning Grant Proposals" workshop is offered at no-cost to UA faculty. Participants in the "Commit to Submit" phase will have priority registration.
Based upon feedback on last year's program, we have modified the program and included several new elements:

  *   Extending the time frame for the mentored proposal development writing groups
  *   A DC visit with NSF Program Officers
  *   Internal review by prior CAREER review panelists
  *   External review by discipline experts
