The OFCE with the UA Honor's College is pleased to announce the Summer 2016 Fellowship Application Support Program. OFCE provides support to students applying for the following fellowships: Student Fulbright, National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI), and the Ford Predoctoral Fellowship Program. We also provide support to students applying for dissertation research or dissertation write-up funding. Track One supports students applying for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships Program (NSF GRFP), the NSF East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute (NSF EAPSI), the Fulbright Student Program, and the Ford Predoctoral Fellowship Program. Track Two supports students applying for dissertation research or write-up fellowships (e.g. NSF DDIGs, Fulbright Student Awards, AAUW, DAAD, etc.).

Established in 1993, the Alternatives Research & Development Foundation (ARDF) supports the development, validation, and adoption of non-animal methods in biomedical research, product testing, and education. The fundamental principle of ARDF is that the primary issue in animal experimentation is not the researchers nor the questions being asked, but rather the tools chosen to answer those questions. Focused on methods and models used in research, ARDF works constructively with partners in the science community to bring alternatives technology and compassion to modern laboratories and classrooms. The Alternatives Research & Development Foundation is currently soliciting research proposals for its 2016 Alternatives Research Grant Program. For over 20 years, this innovative program has created opportunities for scientists who have interest and expertise in alternatives research.

The mission of the Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. As part of this mission, the society is accepting applications for research projects that focus on the global response to health disparities. Grants of up to $12,000 over twelve month will be awarded through the STTI Research Program. Funds do not cover expenses incurred prior to the funding date of November 1, 2016. To be eligible, the principal investigator(s) should be registered nurses (or country equivalent) with current license and have at least a master's in nursing (or country equivalent). Preference will be given to STTI members, other qualifications being equal.

Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, clients' abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. Music therapy also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words.

The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation supports emeritus faculty who maintain active research programs with undergraduates in the chemical sciences. The Senior Scientist Mentor Program provides an award of $20,000 over two years for undergraduate stipends and modest research support. Successful applicants are expected to be closely engaged in a mentoring relationship with undergraduate students. The evaluation will be based on both an assessment of the research proposed and the plans for undergraduate participation in the research. An applicant's history of mentoring undergraduates is favorably viewed.

The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation has awarded more than $1.5 million in grant funding to more than sixty innovative projects since the inception of its oral health grant program in 2002. Past recipients have used DTA Foundation seed money for innovative programs designed to improve access to and the productivity of the oral health care system by identifying, nurturing, and leveraging promising projects. The DTA Foundation is accepting applications for the 2016 program. Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to innovative projects designed to improve oral health care for the growing number of needy Americans. Each applicant must be able to demonstrate that its project not only will improve access to oral care in its immediate area, but also has the potential to scale and be implemented in other areas of the country.

The Marshall Foundation is looking for letters of intent to begin its grant application process. Grants are awarded to applicants whose projects are relevant to the Marshall Foundation’s mission to enhance the lives of citizens of Tucson and Pima County. The Foundation gives primary consideration to organizations involved in Education, Social Services, Arts and Culture and Early Childhood Development. Applications are also considered according to their impact on the community, and availability of funds.

Grants from the National Trust’s Southwest Intervention Fund are intended to further preservation efforts of the traditional cultures of the Southwest region, exclusively in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, West Texas* and Utah. The Fund provides support for preservation planning efforts and enables prompt responses to emergency threats or opportunities in the eligible states. Local partners, nonprofit organizations and government agencies that have strategic opportunities to save sites or help jumpstart preservation projects are eligible for the Fund’s small, catalytic grants. Grants generally range from $2,500 to $10,000. The Fund can support assistance for a single prehistoric or historic place or actions affecting an entire state or part of a state, or several states, so long as all of the states are among the five designated states. Actions aimed at direct intervention to save historic and cultural sites and at capacity building are eligible.

The Sundt Foundation is offering $1,000 to $10,000 grants to nonprofit organizations making a meaningful impact on the lives of disadvantaged adults and children. To date, the foundation has provided over $7 million in aid to community organizations in Arizona, California, and Texas. This year the Sundt Foundation is accepting applications through 15th of March, June, September, and December for organizations requesting a powerful impact in the lives of disadvantage children and adults.

The Lupus Research Institute (LRI) invites applications for financial support for idea-driven, novel research projects relevant to basic, translational or clinical investigation in lupus. Novel Research Grants provide early stage support for exceptionally creative and innovative approaches to major challenges in lupus research. Successful proposals will advance novel hypotheses and/or technologies that have the potential to stimulate new research directions and propel the field forward. The program goals are to stimulate investigation of underexplored pathways and initiate transformative discoveries in lupus that can drive the development of safer and more effective treatments. Investigations into the fundamental mechanisms of lupus and its complications, explorations of novel targets and pathways, and applications involving novel technologies and interdisciplinary approaches are particularly encouraged.

The BBVA Compass Foundation demonstrates support to the communities where they can be a presence. Each community has unique needs and opportunities where funds can be provided. The Foundation provides charitable grants designated to the majority of their community giving dollars to address these needs. Charitable grants are considered for organizations that serve the community through Arts & Culture, Education, Community Development, Health & Human Services, and Environment/Natural Resources.

The Conservation program supports the professional practice of art conservation, especially as it relates to European art of the pre-modern era. Grants are awarded to projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, exhibitions and publications focusing on art conservation, scholarly publications, and technical and scientific studies. Grants are also awarded for activities that permit conservators and conservation scientists to share their expertise with both professional colleagues and a broad audience through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, exhibitions that include a prominent focus on materials and techniques, and other professional events.

The William T. Grant Foundation's Distinguished Fellows Program is designed to increase the supply of, demand for, and use of high-quality research focused on improving the lives of youth. To accomplish this goal, the program gives influential mid-career researchers the opportunity to immerse themselves in practice or policy settings, and gives influential practitioners and policy makers the opportunity to work in research settings. The program encourages mid-career researchers to submit proposals for projects that are designed to deepen their understanding of policy processes and practice settings. Similarly, the program invites policy makers and practitioners to propose projects that will enhance their capacity to recognize and use high-quality research.

ProInspire is a nonprofit that develops leaders at all levels for organizations addressing the world’s greatest challenges. Through fellowships, leadership development, and research, ProInspire strengthens individuals and organizations to catalyze social sector performance. ProInspire works to develop and engage leaders from all organizational levels in addressing the world’s greatest challenges. The organization partners with nonprofit, public, and social enterprise organizations in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco to address critical social issues such as access to education, employment, family wellness, health, housing, and youth development. To that end, ProInspire is accepting applications for its flagship program, a competitive one-year fellowship that places business professionals in targeted positions at leading nonprofit, public, and social enterprise organizations; provides monthly trainings with a cohort of peers; matches fellows with a coach; and provides a network to support fellows’ career growth during the fellowship and beyond.

Since 1976, over 1100 American and German journalists, scholars, and other mid-career professionals in a variety of fields have been given the opportunity to travel overseas and broaden their personal and professional horizons under the auspices of the American Council on Germany's fellowship programs. Each year Americans and Germans travel through the Council's fellowships, gaining a better understanding of how issues are approached on the other side of the Atlantic and forging lasting connections with their transatlantic counterparts and fellowship alumni alike. McCloy Fellowship, Goldman Fellowship, and Hunt Fellowship are available for the summer. Research is based upon global trends, economic-international policy, and cultural history in Germany.

The Foundation encourages all theoretical and experimental research relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention. Candidates must apply for the fellowship under the guidance of a Sponsor—a scientist (tenured, tenure-track or equivalent position) capable of providing mentorship to the Fellow. In addition to aiding in the planning, execution and supervision of the proposed research, the Sponsor’s role is to foster the development of the Fellow’s overall knowledge, technical and analytical skills, and capacity for scientific inquiry. The Sponsor is also expected to assist the Fellow in attaining his/her career goals. Awards are made to institutions for the support of the Fellow under direct supervision of the Sponsor. Candidates who have already accepted a postdoctoral research fellowship award are not eligible.

Each year, the Chiefs of Staff of the Army and the Air Force, the Chief of Naval Operations, and the Commandants of the Coast Guard and the Marine Corps nominate an outstanding officer from their respective services as a candidate for a Military Fellowship. The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) usually awards four to five such fellowships annually. The program enables the selected officers to broaden their understanding of international relations by spending a year in residence at CFR’s headquarters in New York. Fellows expand their knowledge of international relations through a program of individual study, research and reflection, extensive participation in CFR’s active program of meetings and events, and interaction with the CFR’s diverse membership. They also assist in arranging several military trips for CFR members during the year.
