Center for Research & Policy Analysis for Legal Education Diversity Pipeline Grants
Deadline: July 3, 2015

The Access Group Center for Research & Policy Analysis<https://www.accessgroup.org/news/access-group-inc-launches-its-center-research-policy-analysis-and-awards-new-grants> conducts research and provides grants that address some of the most critical issues facing legal education today, including  access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds;  the affordability and financing options for students pursuing legal education; and  the value and relevance of legal education. To that end, the center's Legal Education Diversity Pipeline Grant Program awards grants to current or proposed programs that conduct effective interventions aimed at enhancing access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds, specifically historically underrepresented minority students and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Projects should address the issue of enhanced access to legal education at the national level, or encompass more localized efforts that might be efficiently scaled across institutions and regions for greater impact. Applications from programs that display a collaborative approach and strong partnerships with other organizations to achieve the goal of enhancing access to legal education are encouraged. Amount: Up to $125,000

American Pain Society for 2015 Future Leaders in Pain Research Grants

The American Pain Society<http://www.americanpainsociety.org/> has issued a call for applications for its 2014 Future Leaders in Pain Research Grants. The Future Leaders in Pain Research grant program was established in 2005 to fund pain research projects by doctoral-prepared investigators who have not yet attained NIH RO1-level funding. The purpose of this grant is to encourage research in pain that adds to the existing body of knowledge, and to enable investigators to develop pilot data that helps them secure additional grant funding. This year, APS will award at least two grants for pain research proposals that demonstrate the greatest merit and potential for success. Possible areas of inquiry include use of analgesic medications, unwanted effects of pain treatment related to analgesic therapy, neuropathic pain, mechanisms of pain, and education and non-pharmacologic interventions or approaches to improve pain management. To be eligible, applicants must be an APS member within six years of completing a doctoral degree, and must not have already secured major NIH or foundation grant funding (R01 and/or equivalent). Amount: Up to $20,000

RBC Foundation for After School Grants Project

The RBC After-School Grants Project offers funding to programs that provide a range of structured, supervised activities for K-12 students in the critical hours after the school day ends. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Psychosocial Grant Program

The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation<http://www.alexslemonade.org/> is accepting Letters of Intent in two categories of grants through its Psychosocial Grant program. 1) Psychosocial Launch Grants are designed for early-career researchers within seven years of receiving their terminal degree. Grants of up to $100,000 over two years will support studies that aim to explain and/or improve psychosocial outcomes of those affected by childhood cancer. 2) Psychosocial Family Impact Grants are designed for established investigators. Grants of up to $300,000 over three years will support studies that aim to explain and/or improve psychosocial outcomes of those affected by childhood cancer. These grants are designed to fund researchers who have novel approaches to understanding the psychosocial aspects of pediatric cancer and whose proposals are likely to have clinically significant impact. The foundation will only consider letters of intent from U.S. or Canadian nonprofit institutions, although the principal investigator need not be a U.S. citizen. Amount: Up to $300,000

Navy Seal Foundation for Projects that Support Naval Special Warfare Community and Family

Established to serve U.S. Navy SEALs, Special Warfare Combatant-Craft crewmen, Naval Special Warfare support personnel, and their families, the Navy SEAL Foundation<http://www.navysealfoundation.org/> provides a comprehensive set of programs designed to reduce the stress associated with the tremendous amount of uncertainty and pressure that comes with life in Naval Special Warfare. To that end, the foundation has issued a Request for Proposals from nonprofit organizations for projects that provide immediate and ongoing assistance to active-duty personnel in the Naval Special Warfare community, their families, and surviving family members. The foundation does not support organizations that deny service to a potential client or beneficiary on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, or national origin; individuals; sponsorship for conferences, events, or golf tournaments; construction of buildings or remodeling projects; development or production of books, films, videos, or television programs; capital funding campaigns (excluding monument and memorials honoring NSW personnel); and startup organizations in operation for less than a year. To be eligible, applicants must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and must serve active-duty personnel of the Naval Special Warfare community, reservists, their families, and/or Gold Star/surviving family members.

Women’s Sports Foundation for Women in the Winner’s Circle Project Podium Grants

In 2013, the Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation<http://www.thehenryford.org/exhibits/racing/wiwc/> combined resources with the Women's Sports Foundation<http://www.womenssportsfoundation.org/> to establish the Women’s Sports Foundation Women in the Winner’s Circle Project Podium Grant program for women in motorsports. The overarching goal of the program is to provide direct financial assistance in the form of matching grants to women in racing to help further their professional careers in all forms of racing, including go kart, quarter midget, drag racing, sports car racing, and oval track racing. To that end, grants are awarded to young women in racing who have achieved success in competition, have the potential to achieve even higher levels of performance, and have the ability to generate sponsorship dollars. To be eligible, applicants must be women drivers who can prove that funds equal to the grant amount requested have been raised from sponsors for the specific racing series and season identified.

The 2016 application window is from August 1, 2015, through September 30, 2015. Applicants will be notified by November 30, 2015, and grants will be awarded in the first quarter of 2016.

Grammy Foundation for Music Research and Preservation Projects

The scientific research projects grant program provides awards of up to $20,000 to organizations and individuals working to research the impact of music on the human condition. Examples include the study of the effects of music on mood, cognition, and healing; the medical and occupational well-being of music professionals; and the creative process underlying music. Priority will be given to projects with strong methodological design as well those designed to address an important research question. The archiving and preservation projects grant program awards grants to organizations and individuals to support efforts that advance the archiving and preservation of the music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas. The archiving and preservation area has two funding categories — preservation implementation (grants of up to $20,000); and planning, assessment, and/or consultation (grants of up to $5,000). Amount: Up to $20,000

Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health Seeks Group Therapy Research Projects

The Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health<http://www.agpa.org/foundation> is dedicated to changing lives through therapeutic group work by advancing the most effective and innovative approaches to group therapy education, training, research, and community outreach. To that end, the foundation is seeking research-focused applications for group psychotherapy research  focused on one of five clinical populations: children, the elderly, the chronic mentally ill, substance abusers, and/or significantly ill patients with marked functional impairment. Grants will be awarded based on the importance of the research to the field, the seniority of the investigators, and the number of research applications received. Funding can be used to support the basic costs of research (e.g., supplies, equipment, photocopying, postage, computer services, statistical consultation, and/or research assistant salaries); investigator salaries and travel expenses will not be funded. Equipment purchased for use with a research project is to be donated to an institution at the completion of the project. Amount: Up to $15,000

Partnership for Clean Competition for Doping Research Projects

The Partnership for Clean Competition<http://www.cleancompetition.org/> is a grant making organization founded in 2008 by the United States Olympic Committee<http://www.teamusa.org/>, the United States Anti-Doping Agency<http://www.usada.org/>, Major League Baseball<http://mlb.mlb.com/>, and the National Football League<http://www.nfl.com/> to protect the integrity of sport and public health by engaging and supporting the world's top scientists and innovators in high-quality anti-doping research and development. PCC is accepting applications for its grants program, which supports original projects focused on improving existing methods for detecting particular drugs, developing new analytical methods to test for substances not currently detectable, and discovering cost-effective approaches for testing widely abused substances across all levels of sport. The programs areas of interest include developing methods of cost-effective testing to detect and deter the use of banned and illegal substances; developing testing protocols to detect designer substances used for doping purposes; improving existing analytical methods to detect particular drugs (e.g. GH, IGF-1, EPO, hCG); developing analytical methods to detect performance enhancing drugs not currently detectable;  critical reviews that support interpretation of laboratory data; and alternative specimens, (e.g., oral fluid, dried blood/plasma spots) for testing.

PCC reviews pre-applications three times a year, with applications due March 1, July 1, and November 1. Full applications are due on April 1, August 1, and December 1.

EPSRC for Research Software Engineer (RSE) Fellowships

This call will support Research Software Engineer (RSE) Fellowships for a period of up to five years. The RSE Fellowship describes exceptional individuals with combined expertise in programming and a solid knowledge of the research environment. The Research Software Engineer works with researchers to gain an understanding of the problems they face, and then develops, maintains and extends software to provide the answers. To support the role of RSEs and establish a cohort in the academic environment, up to £3m is available for this pilot call. Candidates are invited to provide an ‘Intent to Submit’ document in the first instance to register interest. Full proposals will be subject to a rigorous peer review and sift process before a final selection by interview.

Vera List Center for Art and Politics Fellowships

Founded in 1992 and named in honor of the late philanthropist, the Vera List Center for Art and Politics<http://www.veralistcenter.org/> at the New School<http://www.newschool.edu/> in New York City is dedicated to serving as a catalyst for discourse on the role of the arts in society and their relationship to the sociopolitical climate in which they are created. The Vera List Center Fellowships support individuals whose work advances the discourse on art and politics. The appointments provide the opportunity to further develop such work drawing from the academic resources of the New School, to expand on the work in collaboration with students and classes, and to bring it to the public through the Vera List Center's interdisciplinary programs. Fellowship projects are selected following an open call for applications and relate to the current curatorial focus theme, “post democracy.” Projects can result in performances, concerts, exhibitions, lectures, online artworks, archives, or publications.

Two fellowships will be awarded, each spanning ten months. The fellowship is part-time, non-residential, and carries a stipend. Journalists, scholars, visual and performing artists, critics, public intellectuals, curators, and cultural practitioners working in any field in which they engage art and politics are encouraged to apply. Social Science Research Council for Abe Fellowship for Journalists

Applicants are invited to submit proposals on one of four themes: 1) Threats to Personal, Societal, and International Security: Topics may include food, water, and energy insecurity; pandemics; climate change; disaster preparedness, prevention, and recovery; and conflict, terrorism, and cyber security. 2) Growth and Sustainable Development: Topics may include global financial stability, trade imbalances and agreements, adjustment to globalization, climate change and adaptation, and poverty and inequality. 3) Social, Scientific, and Cultural Trends and Transformations: Topics may include aging and other demographic change; benefits and dangers of reproductive genetics; gender and social exclusion; expansion of STEM education among women and underrepresented populations; migration, rural depopulation and urbanization; impacts of automation on jobs, poverty, and inequality; and community resilience. 4) Governance, Empowerment, and Participation: Amount: $23,500

Google for Research Awards

Google Research Awards are one-year awards structured as unrestricted gifts to universities to support the work of world-class full-time faculty members at top universities around the world. Faculty members can apply for Research Awards by submitting a proposal to one of our two 2015 funding rounds. Please note that after the October 2015 funding round, the Google Research Awards will follow an annual proposal cycle, with a single deadline of October 15 of each year. The intent of the Google Research Awards is to support cutting-edge research in Computer Science, Engineering, and related fields. Recipients are selected through a comprehensive internal review process and notified of their awards within 4 months of the initial submission. Most awards are funded at the amount needed to support basic expenses for one graduate student for one year. Amount: Up to $150,000
