1 UA'S NEW FINANCIAL SYSTEM WILL AFFECT YOU

A new central financial system will go live at the UA during the first week
of October 2011. This will affect the entire university community. From
mid-September to mid-October (the peak transition period), many of the
business processes that we take for granted will be unavailable. These
include expense reimbursements, payments, expense transfers, and some
of our procurement options. You should be working with your unit's
business staff NOW to plan ahead for these disruptions in service. Heed
their warnings about deadlines and restrictions. Challenges will continue
after go-live, too. The new system (UAccess Financials) is complex and
carries a steep learning curve. There will be a backlog of transactions
from the transition downtime to process. There will be a new approval
routing system for all transactions and other unanticipated complications
to deal with. While there will be many challenges, we will have a new up-
to-date financial system!
Thanks for your understanding and your assistance.
