Colleagues,

It is too long a story to tell here but I am to deliver the opening lecture
(of six) for the UA College of Science lecture series in Centennial Hall
this year. The topic this year is "THE NEW LONGEVITY: NEXT GEN
CENTENARIANS". I am not sure that this will be the final title but Living
beyond 100 years is the theme.

Part of what I would like to do during this lecture is to "look at this
issue from the particular perspective of agriculture and life science" and
so I'd like to ask if anyone would like to contribute. You will of course be
recognized on all slides by name, any references and photos. I do want to
span the range of what we do and so I ask that you give this some serious
thought. I don't have a lot of time to speak and so will need to be
selective. So, if you think you have something that our Tucson community
would like to see around this topic please let me know. Also, this will be
video recorded and put on the www and so can be referenced and could reach a
large audience.

We do an enormous number of things in CALS, so please think broadly about
what you do that may fit it. For example, what are you doing that will have
a positive effect on our longevity (e.g. nutrition) or what will be the
effect on our families, finances, food supply and safety, water use, retail
habits, international agriculture, the environment, etc.?

Please let me know by Friday Dec 2 COB if you are interested.

Regards,

Shane
