Subject: Opening 10/2—FY24 WNPA Research Grant Funding Cycle
Importance: High
Good Afternoon NPS Partners, WNPA Board of Directors and Staff,
National parks preserve our shared natural and cultural heritage. Public lands thrive when people from every generation and diverse cultural backgrounds connect with the complex stories and precious ecosystems that parks protect. WNPA-funded research projects help ensure that everyone sees themselves in a national park.
On behalf of the WNPA team, I am delighted to let you know that the fiscal year 2024 research grant funding cycle opens on Monday, October 2, 2023. To submit a research proposal for this funding round, please have a look at the key highlights below.
1. Submissions will be accepted from October 2, 2023, through February 29, 2024, or until the allocated funding for this round is exhausted, whichever comes first.
2. The WNPA Research Committee will evaluate research proposals and render funding decisions on a first-come, first-serve basis in the order proposals are received.
3. Maximum funding is $20,000 per year per project.
4. NEW for this round, multiyear projects, up to 3 years, will be considered. Maximum funding for a two-year project is $40,000, and $60,000 for three-year project.
5. All submissions must be submitted electronically through the WNPA web portal and include all required information. To learn more, download the full RFP, or submit your proposal, visit WNPA | Research Grant<https://wnpa.org/research-grants/>. For convenience, a copy of the RFP is also attached to this email.
6. Planning to submit a proposal? The first step is to communicate your interest by clicking this link, Register Your Research Grant Proposal<https://forms.office.com/r/Q5NFpQ6dum>. This will allow WNPA to gauge interest and alert interested parties when funds have been expended.
7. Questions may be directed to Julie Tainter, business resource manager, at julie.tainter at wnpa.org<mailto:julie.tainter at wnpa.org> or 520-789-7400.
For us, supporting research not only helps to create future park advocates but can also help heal the past by revealing and sharing the significant stories parks hold. We are excited to learn more about your proposed project and its impacts.
Thank you for your contributions, support, and commitment to the national park ideal and WNPA mission.
Be Well,
Marie Buck, CPA, CMA, SHRM-CP
