As a 4-H member, August was County Fair and State Fair. While my experience was in a different state with a different calendar,I am sure anyone who has previously had an experience can recognize that preparation for Fair was the moment I had waited for all summer. Fair, where the hard work of chores, practice, and planning would pay off in: Fun! As a young person, I wasn’t thinking about Mastery as I packed up the pick-up to go to the Fair, I was thinking about the opportunity to be with friends, share my passion for agriculture and my animals with my peers. Today, I see the County Fair as an opportunity for 4-H youth to showcase their mastery, the place where their project work is assessed and provided feedback, and where the lessons of personal dedication and hard work that we value in positive youth development can be fostered. Those aspects are essential for a young person’s personal growth; and the other aspect that is essential is Fun! For over half of our counties you are spending August gearing up for the county fair, for the other half of our counties you are gearing up for a new year with Fair a far off glimpse. <br/>

Also, reminder that 4-H re-enrollment is starting and, remember, program fees are waived this year so what a great opportunity to recruit new members and invest in new projects!<br/><br/></div>

Young leaders from around the state of Arizona gather at the James 4-H Camp to develop life skills, make new friends, and make new memories. This years JOLT took place July 12th - 16th and welcomed members from all across the state.</div>

Mims, a 4-H member said their favorite activity was leadership building through the peanut butter river activity. </div>
