Also, this year the global pandemic has some cautiously optimistic indicators, allowing our Arizona Cooperative Extension Covid-19 Mitigation Phase Plan to advance to higher-phases than we have seen since the onset, which at these higher-levels allows for the in person programming we all cherish.<br/>

For National Volunteer Appreciation Month I want to say thank you to each of you for your contributions to ensuring Arizona 4-H youth had continuity of 4-H meetings, social interaction, and the fun that they have come to appreciate about 4-H. These are all factors necessary to support strong mental health. Based on our end-of-year survey, over half of you continued to hold virtual programs, and if you held virtual programs you had a lot of them! If you haven’t had virtual programs either because your content was challenging to translate to a virtual setting or broadband issues, I hope you are excited to be able to return to in-person meetings. I sure am! And yes, despite the Governor’s executive order, those meetings do still need to support COVID-19 mitigation measures (<a data-name="Arizona Guide for 4-H Club and Project Meetings: COVID-19 Mitigation Guide" data-type="url" href="https://t.e2ma.net/click/srfd3c/s3cj3mp/wek3tj" style="font-weight: normal;font-weight: normal;color: #333;text-decoration: underline;color: #333;text-decoration: underline;color: rgb(26, 63, 170)">Arizona Guide for 4-H Club and Project Meetings: COVID-19 Mitigation Guide</a>).</div>

I ask you to continue to create #opportunity4all by creating a safe and welcoming environments for every youth and family who expresses interest in your club and project, no matter their demographic characteristics, socio-economic, or disability status. Results from the Arizona 4-H Youth Development annual review indicate that youth engagement in the online/virtual events was dependent on adult encouragement. <br/>

A slight majority of adult volunteers said "Bear Down" and either created opportunities or promoted opportunities created by others for online/virtual engagement for youth. These various events were set up to cope with reduced meeting options due to COVID-19 restrictions. <br/>
