Why is it called “AIB”?<br>
Implicit in RCM as understood in the finance world is a whole budget geared to activity drivers running on a purely formulaic basis with no room for discretionary allocations. AIB is meant to make clear the need for discretionary strategic allocation. ABB=activity
based budgeting was an option but Activity <i>Informed</i> Budgets (AIB) was chosen to suggest the discretionary function.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The AIB Slide Deck has been updated to explicitly call out Research priorities. We are moving the focus in Research to impacts, not grants won. This will be more inclusive of lower funding but highly valuable work in many disciplines.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“Perverse Incentives” references the rush under RCM to add GenED classes without an overall management structure to manage them. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">RCM had a hold-harmless agreement for 3 years. AIB will not hold-harmless: there is no commitment to keep base budgets unchanged in F22.<o:p></o:p></p>
