<div>I’m delighted to share with you that our Department is #1 nationally among 39 entomology departments in the U.S. in the new rankings for faculty scholarly productivity released yesterday by Academic Analytics.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>We rank #1 in percentage of faculty with a grant, article, and citation (all three are 100%) as well as grants per faculty member and percentage of faculty with an award (see attached diagram). We rank in the top 4 in citations per publication and grant
dollars per faculty member.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Overall we rank #1, tied for that honor with one other department of entomology.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Our new ranking is based on the productivity of Entomology core faculty members (active tenure-track and continuing-track faculty as of the 2015-16 academic year) in terms of journal articles (2012-15), grants and citations (2011-15), and awards (all years).</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Many of the metrics are based on department size and total quantity of output (e.g., total articles). Given that we are 32nd of 39 in number of faculty, our strength is the exceptional productivity per faculty member and the contributions of every faculty
member — which is why we rank #1 in the metrics noted above based on percentage of productive faculty.</div>

<div>Our overall top ranking reflects a true team effort with outstanding contributions from every faculty member, as well as our wonderful undergraduate student assistants, graduate students, postdocs, staff, and collaborators.</div>

<div>We’re also grateful to CALS & UA for their continuing investments in Entomology that boost our productivity.</div>
