NEW CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY AND HELP DEFINING INVESTIGATORS: FROM

</b>On May 21, 2014 President Hart approved the
<a href="http://orcr.arizona.edu/coi/uapol">Individual Conflict of
Interest in Research Policy</a>. This policy finalizes the Interim
Investigator Conflict of Interest in Research Policy.
If you have already completed conflict of interest training and
disclosure, you need only follow the renewal schedule outlined in the
policy. <br>
In order to assist the campus community in identifying individuals who
meet the definition of <b>Investigator</b> and are subject to the
<b>training</b> and <b>disclosure</b> requirements of the Policy, the
Conflict of Interest Office has developed a listing of
<a href="http://orcr.arizona.edu/sites/orcr.arizona.edu/files/Job%20Title%20Listing.pdf">
University job titles and codes</a> that are most likely meet to the
definition of <b>Investigator</b>. Please note that this list is
not all inclusive; there may be individuals who meet the definition of
Investigator whose job title does not appear on this list. <br>
In accordance with the Individual Conflict of Interest in Research
policy, individuals who meet the definition of <b>Investigator</b> must
be up to date on conflict of interest <b>training</b> and <b>disclosure
</b>prior to participating in research activities at the
University. <br>
<b>Federal and sub-federal proposals and funding can be effected in the
following ways:<br>
Proposals:<br>
</b>All individuals named on a federal or sub-federal proposal must be up
to date on conflict of interest requirements <b>prior</b> to proposal
submission.<b> Proposals will be held and may not be submitted</b>
if any individual named on a proposal is not up to date on both
<b>training </b>and <b>disclosure</b>.<br>
<b>Funding:<br>
</b>All individuals who meet the definition of <b>Investigator</b> must
be up to date <b>prior</b> to expenditure of funds. <b>New accounts
will not be set up</b> if any individual who meets the definition of
Investigator is not up to date on both <b>training </b>and
<b>disclosure</b>. <b>New funding on existing accounts will not be
set up </b>if any individual who meets the definition of Investigator is
not up to date on both <b>training </b>and <b>disclosure</b>.<br>
The Conflict of Interest office will work with Sponsored Projects
Services, Principal Investigators and departments to ensure that
individuals are up to date on conflict of interest requirements.<br>
