[State Director Charlene Fernandez]Today, November 21, 2024, is National Rural Health Day! Let's celebrate all we have done and will continue to do to keep rural Arizona healthy. At USDA Rural Development, we believe that everyone should live in a healthy and safe environment.
The Biden-Harris Administration and USDA are committed to serving those who live in rural areas, like the small towns and communities so many of us in Arizona call home. Expanding access to quality, affordable health care is essential to creating and sustaining thriving communities.
In 2023, USDA awarded a $2.7 million Business & Industry Loan Guarantee to Exceptional Healthcare to construct a facility in Bullhead City, and earlier this year, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of Exceptional Community Hospital in Bullhead City.
As part of our Rural Partners Network and funded by a $750,000 USDA grant, the San Carlos Apache Tribe's health program aims to expand maternal health services to the tribal community. Maternal health and rural community experts from Texas A&M University are leading this initiative in collaboration with the USDA Arizona Rural Partners Network staff.
We're proud of all our partners, hospitals, rural governments, tribal communities, and more, who are dedicated to providing health care resources rural residents need and deserve.
