Good Morning,
Please see the message below from Andrea Romero about updated Promotion workshops. Please if candidates can attend the workshops encourage them too.
Thank You!

Please encourage all candidates to watch updated promotion workshops, which will be available on-line by March 13, 2023. Candidates who have viewed the on-line workshop are also welcome to attend in-person interactive workshops for additional personalized guidance from experts. The following in-person interactive workshops will take place in the Bear Down Building, Room 266:

Monday, March 27th - Candidate Statements (Dossier Section 5) 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 28th - Teaching Portfolio and Resources (Dossier Section 6) 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, March 30th - Portfolio for Leadership, Extension, Service or Innovation (Dossier Section 7) 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Friday, March 31st - Going Up for Full 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

In order to avoid any disruption of the promotion review process, please review the section on most common problems in dossiers.<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/common-problems-promotion-dossiers> In particular, both candidates and department heads need to carefully review the conflict of interest recommendations<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/promotion-dossiers#:~:text=Conflict%20of%20Interest%3A> and closely adhere to the guidance.

The following is a brief summary of updates for this promotion cycle.

  1. There is an updated peer observation of teaching tool. Please find information here<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/sites/default/files/2023-03/2023-24_09_Observation%20Items%20for%20Summative%20Teaching%20Review%20-%20In%20person%20teaching.pdf>.
  2. There are new tutorials on how to download abbreviated student ratings (SCS<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x_oQnwPjtw> or TCE<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_gewC20v0o>) (Section 6A). These tutorials also include details on how to download student comments into a separate PDF that will be uploaded in Section 6B.
  3. The Provost Awards for Innovations in Teaching<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/provost-award-innovations-teaching> will be available for 2023-2024. These awards recognize outstanding innovation in teaching. Please note that an additional memo in the dossier from the unit level peer review committee is required for nomination.
  4. All department heads and review committees (departmental and college) should review the on-line workshop for reviewers on the promotion process that will be available here<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/promotion-workshops> by March 13, 2023.

As in previous years, the Review, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) on-line system is required to submit dossiers. Units will determine if the candidate submits their materials directly into RPT, or if they are submitted by a unit representative. The candidate materials should be uploaded in a searchable PDF format. Please view the recorded RPT workshops and slide presentations, https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/promotion-workshops.
We recognize that a tremendous amount of work goes into preparing and reviewing the dossiers and we thank you for your contribution.
