Are you ready for a pesticide inspection? You can find out by attending our interactive breakout session during the Southwest Ag Summit in Yuma this Thursday afternoon.

During this 2-hour session, you'll receive information, checklists, and tips to help you analyze your agricultural operation and comply with Arizona and California pesticide regulations. This LIVE unrecorded session will include:

An Introduction to the Inspection. Jack Peterson, Associate Director of the Arizona Department of Agriculture's (AZDA) Environmental and Plant Services Division, will begin the session by describing the difference between a neutral inspection scheme and an inspection for cause. He will also explain the inspection process and will use an actual inspection form as a visual descriptor to highlight key areas and items inspectors review when visiting agricultural operations and producer establishments.

Respiratory Protection Program Requirements. Did you know the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Worker Protection Standard (WPS) requires handlers to be medically evaluated prior to wearing a respirator as well as completing annual fit-testing and training? In this section of the breakout session, Roberto Rios, Pesticide Safety Consultant for the AZDA's Ag Consultation and Training Program will help you get a better understanding of respiratory protection program requirements for agricultural production areas.
Proper Storage and Maintenance of Pesticides and Their Containers. During the last segment, I will help you determine if you have all of the required items inside and adjacent to your storage area and the correct details included on your pesticide service containers. We'll also discuss how weather impacts your stored products and a few solutions for common "not-quite-perfect" storage situations.
