Subject: Name change for FCS

All,

The Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences has a new name: Norton School of Human Ecology.  The change was approved recently by the Faculty Senate and UA leadership.  Dr. Scaramella believes that the new name more appropriately captures the multiple disciplines and programmatic identities housed within the school, better aligns with peer programs, and evokes the evolution of the school in the life sciences (rather than harkens to its past).

After trying out multiple acronyms, Dr. S requests that we use HECL.

Please scour and update reports, dashboards, and systems you may have with the old school and acronym.  For those that are generated by university enterprise systems, Sam Sowerby is in the process of updating the department names in systems like UAccess Employee and Financials.

As with any new organizational identity, it will be important to fully adopt the new and minimize references to the old (accidental or otherwise).  Thanks so much.
