Good afternoon friends. I'm personally reaching out to our Federal, Tribal, State, and community partners to share some of the resources available from NRCS to address the natural resource issues caused by the recent wildfires. You or your office may have received the press release issued by USDA but I just want to make sure you had it. In addition to the press release, we have also created a page on our website devoted to emergency response. It provides all the information that communities and producers need to apply for our programs.

We are doing a special sign up right now for conservation measures that were previously installed with EQIP funds. If those practices have been damaged or destroyed by fire, those producers can apply for EQIP funds to reinstall them. The deadline to sign up is July 12, 2021 and due to pandemic protocols, applications must be submitted electronically or by appointment in the office.

Before the fires, we were working on a partnership with DFFM to mitigate drought/wildfire issues through our EQIP-CIC. That sign up deadline is July 12th as well.

Lastly, local cities, town, counties, or other municipality, as well as Tribes, may requests assistance for our Emergency Watershed Protection Program. (Private Land, BLM and State Lands are eligible, but not Forest Service lands.) This is an emergency program that requires quick response so those potential sponsors need to contact us as soon as possible.

All the details for these programs can be found on our website and the press release provides links to programs from NRCS and other USDA agencies. Please share this information with your networks, especially the producers that may be impacted. We are reaching out to current and former EQIP participants in the Telegraph and Mescal fire areas, but still need help getting out the word. Please also share within your agencies, especially if there are questions about what we can cover versus what other Federal and State agencies are doing. If we need to meet and discuss further, let's do that sooner than later.

Thank you so much for your time and attention. Please click on the links below for more information. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Producers should contact their local field office or apply through our website. Have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July!

NRCS Mission: We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
NRCS Vision: A world of clean and abundant water, healthy soils, resilient landscapes, and thriving agricultural communities through voluntary conservation.

As precautionary health measures are put in effect nationwide to reduce the spread of coronavirus, the USDA is taking steps to ensure the safety of its employees and customers. USDA Service Centers are open for business by phone appointment only. While our program delivery staff will continue to come into to the office, they will be working with our agriculture producers by phone and using email and online tools whenever possible. Producers should contact their local service center by phone to schedule time for program or loan services needed. For the latest information on Service Center operations, visit www.farmers.gov/coronavirus<http://www.farmers.gov/coronavirus><http://www.farmers.gov/coronavirus>.
