FYI.... I agree on these points as well - following county healthy dept. guidelines and clarity of messaging.

This email thread conversation is Pima-Co. centered but as we have discussed this morning, that is tact we are taking with the other 14 counties of Arizona where we have UA offices, Extension and others.

I agree with Harry. We do need to ensure that communications about this are clear, following the PCHD guidelines, and that messaging is consistent from the University on this from the communications subgroup. As many of you can probably are in the same boat, we are getting inundated with questions about the phases and eligibility and we just need to ensure that the communications going outbound are clear and consistent.

Mona and Chad,
My perspective on this issue is that retirees who are 75 years old and older are in the 1B group as Mona noted.  Any retirees under 75 yo will need to wait until the PCHD directs us to begin including their specific sub population (e.g. people 65 yo and older) in our groups eligible for vaccination at the PCHD-UA POD.

Hi Chad,

For the UArizona estimate, I do not believe these retirees are being considered. I would venture that we need to ask the County if our retirees can be counted. If they are over 75, they do fit in the Phase 1B criteria already.

I would like the input of the population estimation team so I am cc'ing those members. All: the below question is a teaser. We are already getting questions about if alumni and donors are eligible. In the end, our messaging needs to be clear that we are following PCHD prioritization criteria. I will take questions to Terry as needed.

Hi Mona,

I hope all is well. I received an inquiry from a UArizona retiree inquiring about the COVID-19 vaccine. This is a population that we definitely missed when looking at population identification. Retirees for example are eligible each year for the flu shot through our clinics with ADOA/Healthwaves. Do we know if this population is being considered in the Phase 1B population as part of the UArizona estimate? I am not sure next steps on finding out the number for this but I can ask but I thought I would bring this up to see if you have any insight.
