How we respond to this pandemic is a measure of our individual and collective leadership.  The role of a business officer is very much behind the scenes but is no less critical, now more than ever.  Your unit leader and the division leaders need your knowledge, skills, and talents, which you all have in abundance.

You are leadership models for your teams and the staff and faculty around you.  Believe me, they are watching.  Be calm, positive, proactive, responsive, and resourceful.

As Shane and Jeff have mentioned, the unprecedented actions we are implementing are intended to flatten the contagion curve<https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/11/science/coronavirus-curve-mitigation-infection.html> and take pressure off of the healthcare system so that it can focus on the most serious cases and buy additional time for a vaccine to be developed.
