Subject: Feb 7 - Buffalo Soldiers Black History Art Exhibit

Greetings!

I am reaching out to U of A's College of Agriculture & Life Sciences about an exciting exhibit we have coming in next month at the Tucson Desert Art Museum, in honor and recognition of Black History Month. The exhibit is entitled,  Buffalo Soldiers: The 10th Cavalry Regiment Told Through the Art of David Laughlin. You can read about the exhibition here:  https://www.tucsondart.org/museum-exhibitions/

The reception is taking place Friday, February 7th from 6-8PM and we would be honored to have you and your colleagues, and/or students in attendance! The event will include an engaging presentation by Dr. Michael Engs (Founder of AZ Heritage Tours), as well as a documentary screening about the history of the Buffalo Soldier.

Admission to the event is FREE for students, military (active & veterans), our museum members, and members of GSAAC<http://www.azbuffalosoldiers.org/>; the Buffalo Soldiers education group that we are collaborating with on this exhibition and opening.

Currently, GSAAC is working with The City of Tucson (Ward 5) on erecting a Buffalo Soldiers Memorial Plaza. At this present time, there are no monuments or museums in Tucson representative of contributions Black Americans made in settling Southern AZ; it is GSAAC's plan to change this. The construction of this monument will preserve and recognize the important contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers whom were stationed in Southern AZ.

The opening event  is also a fund & awareness-raiser for this imperative project by the GSAAC, so please share amongst your contacts!
