I hope this email finds you well.  The following information was shared with one of the Master Gardeners in Pinal County and they asked that I share it with MCCE and the MCMGs, if you have not seen it yet.:

Hello friends of Terry Mikel. I apologize for not being able to send more updates earlier. It has been a long, complicated and uncertain period for our Dad. The pandemic restrictions on hospital visitation have only made it more difficult for us to see him, get good information on his conditions and determine his options day-to-day. He is battling a variety of ailments, most of which are rooted in the metastatic melanoma that has aggressively attacked his body. The excellent physicians in about every department at Banner UMC have attempted countless interventions and treatments with the goal of getting him stabilized and into therapy. After over 9 weeks of hospitalization, procedures, transfusions, radiology and more... Unfortunately, they have started to run out of options.
Tomorrow, he will be transitioned into hospice care. Throughout this ordeal, he has maintained his wit, humor, and lovably-cantankerous personality. He has been so kind and apologetic to his children, not wanting to burden us, or anyone, to have to care for him. He would muster all the energy he could to show us love when we could visit.

Our Dad, and the whole family, appreciate all of the kindness, concern, prayers and well wishes sent our way. We don't know how many of his friends are on facebook, so we would also appreciate that you spread the word through your shared circles of friends.
It is unclear exactly how much time he has. We were hoping that anyone who sees this (and is able to) could send something that reminds them of the impact Terry Mikel has had in your life: classic stories, memories, good quotes, pictures or just some thoughts about your time with Terry throughout his life. We will share these with him and we know it will bring a smile to his face. It could also serve as an opportunity for each of us to reflect on what a brilliant and caring man he is. These stories will be read by his children but we know he lived some formative years of his life as a Sailor, so don’t hold back if the story is a somewhat lewd!
