Arizona's number of identified COVID-19 cases has <https://cl.exct.net/?qs=99acaa736bbf92e0c7483e0f06e7afc1f4f9cd4ee46a4b02d723fe91a7dc33c5353d0f1dbc280a1010263039a82b107b200ff358f598e23b5bd24c7c8931b75b> reached 199,273 (up 859 from the day before), and deaths reached 4,792<https://cl.exct.net/?qs=99acaa736bbf92e0c3fbd8641d8047bcec5cf29b9c76439a5e72de8676b15253ffde81601175f2c8c31c0461d2c445dbd166496494a1d8a94f0e1ce2a8ad28fc> (up 21 from the day before).

Inpatient hospitalizations saw a slight uptick on Monday, but generally, hospitalization metrics like patient counts, ventilators in use and ER visits for COVID-19 have trended downward over the past five to six weeks, according to hospital data reported to the state.

With the good news of improving COVID-19 metrics comes word from the Department of Health Services on Tuesday that gyms, movie theaters, water parks and bars that serve food could be allowed to partially reopen<https://cl.exct.net/?qs=99acaa736bbf92e03179371f20c8186350dc11a44a087dda01b4613d29f57227ff1d7eb002493e909a35db8f3217d3f0958dca2a25efaf83175ed39e468448ae> later this week.

DHS Director Dr. Cara Christ said Maricopa, Pima and Pinal counties all are likely to move into the "moderate" category of community spread when the benchmarks are updated Thursday.

But don't forget that, despite the category change, mask mandates remain in effect for several Arizona counties — including Maricopa County.

Dial, a former Phoenix resident, hopes to launch the new semi-private airline that will offer nonstop service to Aspen, Colorado, from five markets in early 2021.

"You would think, on one hand, boy, you're stupid to start an airline in the middle of a hurricane," he said. "But the reality is it's like the best time to start up because we're getting favorable deals on airplanes that are sitting in storage. We're getting favorable financing."

He said having fewer passengers onboard will be attractive to those avoiding crowds due to the spread of the new coronavirus.
