Just an FYI, please see below.  Several of our off campus business officers were also on this meeting and can update you separately, but we are sharing what knowledge we have.  As you know, our budget remains static and we will have some of the same issues as the academic units.

Subject: Budget Update

Academic Unit Heads, EC, and Cabinet Members,

Jan Myers from Human Resources just presented on what is expected from colleges under UCAP.  Several unit business officers were also present.  Deans will be given final mapping of UCAP tomorrow and will be mandated to increase University Staff salaries to the minimum over a period of time.  Final decisions about timing have not been set.  We are unsure of mandated UA merit adjustments at this time.

With on-ground enrollments planned to be flat and growth coming mostly from online, the cash flows do not match the expenses.  Within CALS, the revenues from the alternative revenue growth areas flow straight to the units.  I am also worried about an economic recession that historically have precipitated state budget rescissions.
