House and Senate introduce FY 2018 omnibus spending bill
On Wednesday, March 21, 2017, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees released the text of the FY 2018 omnibus appropriations bill.
The Omnibus bill includes funding for NIFA, including $887,171,000 in funding for Research and Education Activities, $483,626,000 for Extension Activities, and $37,000,000 for Integrated Activities, a $37.653 million, $6.235 million, and $1 million increase over FY 2017 respectively. In total, funding levels increased by $44.888 million compared to last year. Of the increases provided for NIFA, 55% are for BAC priorities. As shown in the table below, all BAA NIFA priorities increased or remained the same.
