Hi Everyone,

For a couple of reasons, I am cancelling our faculty meeting for this Friday.

My original plan was to have a discussion focusing on the results of the Employee Engagement Climate Survey; however, I now think it is premature.  The Heads of Departments met with the architect of the survey last week and our general consensus was that the amount of useful information at the unit level was small (relative to that pertaining to CALS as a whole) and that there was no way to distinguish input from staff versus faculty.  Basically, it was not an effective survey.  I think a new, hopefully more interpretable survey is in the works.

In addition, I did not hear from anyone about items to add to the agenda - so I don’t think we need to meet.  I will ask for updates from the search and School Committees and share any information with you in my e-mail later in the week.

2. 2017 Employee Engagement Climate Survey
I have attached the results of the recent Employee Engagement Climate Survey – the School of Plant Sciences-specific information begins on page 9.  Please read and let me know as soon as possible if you have questions – if I can’t answer them, I will ask Heather Roberts-Wrenn.  It is my plan to talk about the survey and begin to work together to develop an action plan at our next faculty meeting (see below).
