Subject: Changes in CALS Development

Unit heads and school directors,

This email is to update you on retirements, new hires, and our new organizational structure.  As you may know, Lee Dueringer has left development and has assumed the director position in CALS Career Center.  Lee did an outstanding job over the last few years serving many of our agriculture alumni and friends.

We have hired Karen Hollish who will assume some of Lee’s responsibilities.  Karen most recently served as director of development for the Pima Animal Care Center where she developed their first major gift fundraising program the last three years.

I have also hired Marianne Hadden as director of development for the new College of Veterinary Medicine.  Marianne comes to us most recently from the health sciences development team, and prior to that the College of Public Health and has many years of development experience.  She will report to both interim dean Dave Besselsen and myself and have two areas of responsibility:


1.      Raising the needed capital initially to launch the new College of Veterinary Medicine

2.      Working with CALS unit heads on major gifts for those of you with biomedical areas

Finally, I have attached a chart showing our new organizational structure.  Your assigned development officer contact is shown based on each DO’s area of responsibility.

Karen and Marianne will be reaching out to meet with you to learn more about your exciting work.  Please welcome them to the college.
