Dear CEDs:

I would like to start working on our Arizona
Science and Technology Festival plans. Some
counties may be planning on working with Kirk and
Kerry Schwartz on a water related activity, but
this would be in addition to that. What I am
hoping to do is “Cover 15 counties in 15 Days” or
“15 Counties in 5 Days” or even better “15
Counties in 5 hours” (you get the gist).

So, I need to know what plans do you already have
that are occurring from February 1 to February
29, 2012, that could be tagged as Science or
Technology related. What we will do is arrange
to have the activity logged into the system as a
partnering event for the Festival. We’ll try to
get some signage, press coverage and deliver some
quality education, helping to show how Extension
reaches Arizonan’s from every corner of the
state, and in between. Please share this with
our reservation faculty as well, it would be good to also get them involved!

Looking at our Master Calendar, the only thing
showing are some gardening activities in Pima
County and some Grandparents Raising
Grandchildren in Sedona and Flagstaff. However,
make one of those gardening workshops an IPM or
irrigation presentation during that time period
and you have science and technology.

This an excellent opportunity to showcase
Extension. Everything I have seen so far from
the Festival organizers has involved the greater
Phoenix area and the I-10 corridor to
Tucson. We’ll cover those areas as well as the
rest of the State – it’s what we do!

I look forward to your replies. As always, thank
for your help and sooner I hear from you, the
sooner we can get the timeframe established and
start making some more concrete plans.

Take Care,

Ed
