Yvonne, I think that could vary a little from one part of the Valley or your
yard to another. Look around your neighborhood to see what your neighbors
have going for them. With your bare root plants, I don't believe you should
expect fruit the first year anyway. Some homegrowers will clip-off first
year buds to direct that energy into developing a strong root system before
burdening with fruit a juvenile struggling to mature and adapt to a new,
hostile environment.
These are just my logic, or rationale, that I can't back up with facts or
personal experience.
