ANR Colleagues: this is short notice, but there's a request for 2 volunteer judges at this event at ENR2 on Thursday.

Please take a look and consider taking on this cool service activity.
Chris

Subject: ENViSion This Thursday - seeking volunteer judges

Hi Chris, I'm not sure if this has been sent to extension staff, but we need 2 more staff volunteer judges to meet our bare minimum goal of 12 non-faculty judges at ENViSion this Thursday! Could you help spread the word among extension staff and external (non-UA) scientists (government and industry)?

Thank you,
Rivka

Subject: Fw: ENViSion -- March 21st -- 10 days and counting!

As you may be aware, Earth Week is coming up soon and UA's Earth Week is even sooner. As part of Earth Week, Environmental Science students will be presenting posters and oral presentations at ENViSion on Thursday 3/21. The first, second and third place presenters in each category will receive a cash prize.

This year we are inviting external judges to evaluate the presentations. This will ensure a diverse judging pool that better reflects the breadth of perspectives in industry, government, and academia that students will encounter in their careers.

It would be incredibly valuable for current ENVS students to have a diverse suite of judges, including experts like you! Judges are expected to evaluate ~4-5 presentations each, and we'll do our best to match presentations to your schedule. If you're interested, please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdEiqvs7Wt5W8YzfUFzQWdt93QBdXoYVD0SlCPXSWfSKimvPQ/viewform?usp=share_link

Subject: [envs_faculty] ENViSion -- March 21st -- 10 days and counting!

Dear ENVS Faculty and Staff,

ENViSion is in 10 days! Hard to believe but the event is March 21st, 9 to 5pm in ENR2. In case you don't know, ENViSion is the annual ENVS department research symposium which is part of the larger SEES event during Earth week. It is a great time to come together as a community. Our graduate students have organized this event and will be showcasing their work in both oral and poster sessions during the day. Undergraduate student researchers will also be presenting. Schedule is below. Please plan to attend (if you teach on Thursdays, bring your class). Our graduate students have worked for months to plan this event to include extensive and innovative fund raising. A big thank you to the graduate student organizing committee: Neera Setlur, Anu Sethuraman, Susan Perez, and Ben Karls. An additional big thank you to Luisa Ikner and Katrina Teer the faculty and staff advisors.

If you attended last year, you will remember small rooms and overlapping oral and poster sessions. Good news is that thanks to Jon Chorover's leadership the oral and poster sessions are separate and we have a large room for the oral sessions and the courtyard for the posters. So, it will be comfortable!

Morning Session: ENR2 Building, Room S107

9 -11:15 am: Oral Presentations Round 1

11:15 am - 12 pm: Alumni Panel

Catered Lunch: 12 pm - 1 pm in ENR2 Courtyard

Afternoon Session: ENR2 Building, Room S107

1 - 3 pm: Oral Presentations Round 2

3 - 5 pm: Poster Presentations in the ENR2 Courtyard

As part of the symposium there will be a presentation competition! The first, second and third place presenters in each category will receive a cash prize.

This is where we need your help! There will be about 50-60 oral/poster presentations and we are seeking faculty, staff, postdocs and external folks to evaluate and provide feedback on presentations. Please sign up below! You will be asked to provide feedback on 4 to 5 presentations. You can choose which session appeals to you. If you didn't get a slot last year, please sign up this year! Diversity in judging is key! Everyone is qualified so please sign up!!

How: Sign up using this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdEiqvs7Wt5W8YzfUFzQWdt93QBdXoYVD0SlCPXSWfSKimvPQ/viewform?usp=share_link

Thank you from the ENViSion grad students and graduate planning committee who are excited to share their research interests and bring ENVS together as a community!

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact Neera Setlur (nsetlur at arizona.edu<mailto:nsetlur at arizona.edu>) or Anu Sethuraman (asethuraman at arizona.edu<mailto:asethuraman at arizona.edu>).

All the best,

Joan
