Proposal for CALS name change

Dear Extension,

I am writing to update you on a proposal that Dean Burgess plans to submit to the University's administration and the Arizona Board of Regents. The proposal will make a case for a name change for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) to reflect our continued investment and excellence in the environment and agriculture- if successful, the College will become the College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences (CALES).

CALS is uniquely positioned to help students interested in the environment see the bigger picture and connect the dots with agriculture, water, energy, food, and human health to address the ongoing challenges of water and natural resource availability and management.

Arizona Cooperative Extension will remain part of the ALVSCE Division, and our name and mission will not change. However, I wanted you all to be aware of the proposed name change for CALS.
