Research Reports

Dear ANR Faculty,

I’m writing to ask for your input on the publication of Research 
Reports.  These reports were once published in great numbers in booklets 
such as the Forage and Grain Report, Vegetable Report, and Cotton 
Report.  However, in the past few years these have been far and few 
between.  The process lately has been to give Research Reports their own 
AZ numbers and have them peer-reviewed.  They are published online with 
other Extension publications, the only difference being the format and 
that the words “Research Report” proceed the title so that readers are 
aware these are not traditional Extension publications but reports 
concerning on-going or recently completed research.

The question has arisen of whether we should have these Research Reports 
peer reviewed through the Fasttrack system.  I do not wish to have some 
research reports peer reviewed and others not.  I would like to be 
consistent.  Those of you that write these reports, have written these 
reports or plan to (or have an interest in) these reports, please let me 
know your thoughts.  I have no desire to make the process more 
complicated that it need be.  However, I am happy to continue to work 
with the Associate Editors and have these publication continue to be 
peer reviewed.
