2 great ways to start the new year

Dear colleagues,

Wishing you a warm welcome back from the winter break. Hoping you and yours had a restful and recharging time together.

I wanted to bring to your attention two upcoming events that should be excellent ways to start the new year, hosted by your DEI Council. Everyone is invited to attend. We offer an in-person and online option.

  1.  Kindness of DEI Workshop with Dr. Jeannette Maré<https://norton.arizona.edu/person/jeannette-mare>, January 14th, 10-11:30am in ENR2, S210. Jeanette is a Research Professor and Director of the Science of Kindness Community Collective in the Norton School, exploring how to increase kindness in interpersonal relationships, organizations, and communities. She is also the founder of the Tucson nonprofit Ben's Bells<https://bensbells.org/>, a community-based organization that promotes kindness. Join us as we learn about the practice of kindness and its impact on organizations and individuals.
  2.  Leading for Inclusion with Dr. Katina Sawyer<https://eller.arizona.edu/people/katina-sawyer>, January 21st, 10-11:30 am in ENR2, S225. Katina is an Associate Professor in the Eller College of Management who studies a variety of topics including positive organizational culture like employee belonging and helping. In addition to her academic pursuits, she co-founded Workr Beeing<https://workrbeeing.com/>, a consulting and coaching organization that supports workplace wellness and development of effective leaders. This workshop will provide actionable steps to support the belonging and connectedness of our team members.
