Dear Colleagues,

Emergencies are an unfortunate reality that we must prepare for on a public campus.  There are many ways to become prepared.

The first is to watch the new Active Shooter Training<https://cirt.arizona.edu/case-emergency/active-shooterarmed-individual> through the Edge Learning System.  This training is required annually, 12-minutes in length, and provides many examples of how to prepare.  This training is also one of the least watched within ALVSCE - around 25% completion.  Please watch it.  There is a reading option for those who are uncomfortable watching the video, which is also available through the Edge Learning System.  (At present, the training is only available in English.  I have requested that the training also include a Spanish transcription option.)

Now is also a great time to confirm that you are signed up for UAlerts, the Univesity's emergency communication system.  While your subscription does not expire once established, it is best to check annually that your phone number and cell carrier are correct. And please watch your building's emergency plan walkthrough here<https://compass.arizona.edu/emergencies>.  Building Managers, Ryan Daily, and I have conducted or have scheduled trainings for Marley, Shantz, Forbes, McClelland Park, and the Saguaro Buildings.  Please make sure all employees and student workers watch these training videos as part of their onboarding.
