New ALVSCE Staff Council

[Agriculture, Life and Veterinary Sciences, and Cooperative Extension Weekly Bulletin]

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share news of the formation of the new ALVSCE Staff Council (SC), which is the group that represents University Staff, Classified Staff, and Appointed Professionals who were converted to University Staff in 2019.  Staff, collectively, represent three-quarters of the employment in ALVSCE so it is important to give them an active voice.  My thanks to the representatives and congratulations to the officers who have agreed to serve this fiscal year.  They represent staff and will be sharing information with their units.  Please connect with them.

  *   Andy Honaman, School of Natural Resources and the Environment
  *   Vanessa Parra, Maricopa County Cooperative Extension
  *   Tamra Stevenson, School of Nutritional Science and Wellness
  *   David Tenen, Environmental Science
  *   Breanna Watkins, Ag Education, Technology & Innovation
  *   Brian Berrellez, Ex officio past chair of Staff Council

The group has been busy updating their charter and organizing themselves, and they are planning some exciting events in the coming months.


  *   Conversation with Shane, March 1 at 2:30-3pm:  Vice President Burgess will discuss topical issues with Staff Council.  Stay tuned for how you can share a question and participate.
  *   Outstanding Staff Awards will be solicited and presented at the Fall and Spring Awards Celebrations.  Award amounts have been increased to $1,000 each to be consistent with other individual awards in the division.  They will announce nomination procedures shortly.

SC has a group of dedicated representatives.  I look forward to the many ways they help us to be the most sought-after place to be a part of.
