Another semester is almost in the books! For most of us this is a busy, but an exciting time for our campus, as our students are reaching their academic milestones and gearing up for graduation. Please take time to read through the updates below and reach out

The University of Arizona Basic Needs Coalition is composed of faculty and staff working to decrease basic needs insecurity on our campus. The Coalition is in its fifth academic year and meets quarterly to discuss basic needs issues and advances in solutions
across campus. We are always looking for more staff, faculty and community stakeholders to attend and learn more about basic needs work happening on campus. Please feel free to forward this email to others who you think might be interested in attending. Make

students with the resources they need to thrive (e.g., food, housing, clothing, finances). We also collaborated with the university library on a talk-back board that was available for a two-week span in March as an asynchronous way to engage more students.
Learnings are informing messaging and communication strategies for the campaign that are in progress.</span></span></li><li class="x_m_-6119715104396936182" style="font-size:12pt; font-family:Aptos,sans-serif">
<span style="font-size:15px"><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif"><b>Design Contest:</b> We launched the <span style="color:#212121">Designing for Dignity Contest: Art & Creativity for Empowering Basic Needs. Entrants could participate in one
of two categories: (1) creative design or (2) storytelling through comics with a chance to win $100. Deadline for submissions was extended to Wednesday, April 17.</span></span></span></li><li class="x_m_-6119715104396936182" style="font-size:12pt; font-family:Aptos,sans-serif">

<p style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:15px"><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">Each year the Office of Government and Community Relations and UACares partner to host a month long food drive benefiting the UA Campus Pantry and
the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. <br>

Members of the campus community can donate non- perishable food and hygiene items to these organizations by dropping them off in more than 100 food boxes across campus. <br>
<br>
This year Stuff the CatTran brought in more than 1,486 pounds of food and hygiene donations to the Campus Pantry. Thank you to everyone who supported our programs by donating. If you didn't get a chance to donate, you can drop off donations at the Student Union

<h1 style="line-height:100%"><span style="font-size:14px">Starting on Friday, June 28, 2024, Campus Health will no longer provide pharmacy services which includes filling prescriptions.</span></h1>
The following email was sent to all students who are enrolled in the student health insurance plan or CampusCare:
<p>"We came to this difficult decision due to the changing landscape of retail pharmacy services in recent years. However, patients can still access several nearby options for their medication needs, which includes retail pharmacies within walking distance
of the Tucson campus, as well as online pharmacies that offer the convenience of delivery.<br>

If you already have an existing prescription with the Campus Health pharmacy, please ask your preferred pharmacy to contact us at 520-621-6516 so we can transfer it. Your healthcare provider can also send new prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy in the
future.<br>

<span style="font-size:19px">Student Services Fee Supports UA Basic Needs Programs</span></h3>
<p style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:16px">The Student Services fee is paid by all main campus students and is allocated by a student committee with the mission of delivering new or improving existing support services to all students in ways that
promote success and enhance the overall quality of the student experience. Biannually there is a
<a data-linkto="other" href="" title="survey " style="color:#8B0015; text-decoration:underline">
survey</a> that goes out to understand what current students would like prioritized in regards to funding project proposals. Students overwhelmingly supported initiatives that ensure access to basic needs with
<b>83% of students indicating that this was a priority, the highest of all initiatives. </b><br>

The Student Services Fee committee provided the Provost with <a data-linkto="https://" href="https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=6fe044f1fb964e13b30672bbba86be2e45ddf9519a69e93ff74db11b55e33c9b0e1fce6f4620b2226145749869a600046fba5d04aec9b072" title="recommendations" style="color:#8B0015; text-decoration:underline">
recommendations</a> that were recently approved. Basic Needs programs received tremendous support by funding several programs that support access to basic needs including: </span></p>

<p style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-size:16px">The Campus Pantry has expanded to the Health Science campus. The distributions at Campus Pantry North will take place every Thursday from 12:30-3pm. Students can either pre-order personalized food bags,
or pick up a prepared bag. To get to the Campus Pantry North, take the health sciences library elevator to the basement level and follow directional signage. </span><br>

The Campus Pantry is open for all members of the Wildcat community. This semester we are open for distribution Tuesday 2-6, Wednesday 11-3 and Fridays 11-3. Additionally, Campus Pantry North is open for food bag distribution on Thursdays from 12:30-3pm, with
the last day being April 26th. Users are required to bring their CatCard to distribution and are asked to bring their own bag. Users are limited to 2 visits per week. <br>

The Campus Pantry is still in need of food and hygiene donations especially: jelly, pasta, bags of rice, cans of soup, snacks and menstrual products. Donations can be dropped off anytime at the drop box at the Campus Pantry or at the Student Union Info Desk. </p>

Campus Closet Updates</h2>
The Campus Closet is also having a record breaking year by serving the highest number of visits and distributing the most clothing since its opening in 2019!<br>

Fostering Success Updates</h2>
Fostering Success serves students who have experienced foster care or housing insecurity at any point in their lives or are considered unaccompanied youth/participated in

We have nearly 100 students who have formally enrolled in the program this year and we serve hundreds more informally throughout the year. Our students have overcome so many obstacles to get to college and have demonstrated immense resilience throughout this
year. Fostering Success is so proud to have 15 students on track to earn their undergraduate degrees this May! <br>
<br>
Spring semester has been full of personal and professional development opportunities including workshops by El Rio RHAP, Fostering Success Ambassador Saturdays, and taking 5 student staff to the National Network for Youth Homelessness Summit + Hill Day in Washington,
D.C. The growth we've seen our students experience this semester has been truly inspiring and we hope to offer even more development opportunities in the 2024-25 academic year.<br>
